Tforce 6100 AM2 CPU selection help
Just looking to upgrade my system a little and was wondering what the fastest chip is i could run on a TForce 6100 AM2? All suggestions welcome, but if you are just here to say"Dude that board sucks" then just move along and pad your post count somewhere else please.

AMD AM2 X2 6400+ I believe is the fastest, running at 3.2GHz if I remember?
don't have same Mobo, but my new upgrade for the old Athlon XP system should be here on thursday, a Jetway brand 6100 based mobo. the 6400+ Blackbox editions I have seen going for around $160-180 online this past week. Not sure if any of the Opterons for AM2 are better though?
Been on Intels Core 2 Duo bandwagon since Spring (switched from a Socket 939 X2 platform to Core 2 Duo), & have lost my way with AMD, as far as keeping up on their stuff since, which is a shame considering I had been with them for almost 10 years prior. about only thing I do keep up on, is how some of their CPU line is doing, somewhat.

Yes you are correct. 6400+ is the fastest. If you're interested in overclocking at all (6100 isn't the greatest chipset you can do it on though...) an FX-62 could be another option.

Dont care about overclocking, dont have the time or energy in my schedule right now to fiddle with it, since we have a newborn. Plus the board isnt the greatest board to OC bios-wise.
Thanks for the input.... now... off to ebay!

FYI: The new AMD BlackBox Edition CPU's do not come with a heatsink fan.
The 65nm Brisbane cores are more energy efficient and run cooler.

yeah, we (me & a friend) found this out on teamspeak last night looking up parts for his upgrades in January. so we started to look at some aftermarket heatsinks.
for me & my 6100 Board, I'm looking at one of the low wattage X2's, or possibly a X2 5000+, as it'd be plenty for what I need it for that system.
