AMD X2 4800+ / Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 - Worth Extra Money?

My main conern if for gaming, is it worth the extra $$$ For the Core 2 Duo? Im on a budget so im not after mimimal gains .

Vga Card is the main factor contributing to Smooth Gameplay, but Will the Intel core 2 Duo make much more of the difference compare to the AMD x2 4800+ once i upgrade to my 8600Gt?

Hi there.
In gaming, the Core 2 really pays off. Mainly because of it's higher L2 then the AMD counterpart.
I would suggest you go for the Core 2, you won't be upset..

With an 8600GT, no it is not worth spending twice the money (compared to the 4800x2) for the E6750 as it just wouldn't make a difference quality/FPS wise IMO.

Spend the money you have on a better graphics card and get the 4800 x2. IMO this will result in smoother better looking gameplay.
Better graphics card suggestions include HD3850, HD3870 & 8800GT.

Karma is right about the Core2's being ace in games but i just think with that 8600GT you are thinking about getting its a mismatch.

yeah i would stick with that processor and get a 8800GT with the money instead. sell the 8600GT. that would increase gaming performance way more than the processor. you could also try the 5200+X2. its the cheapest AMD CPU you can get with double the cache compared to the rest
