| p5n32-e and q6600 overclocking
I'm trying to overclock my q6600 on asus p5n32-e but mobo wont let me go above around 1300 FSB im not sure what is the exact number but whenever i go higher my system freezes.
is it something wrong with mobo or is there an option that locks the mobo from going above.
I'm curently running at 2,835mhz with 1260FSB and @ 1.38v
idle core temps are 42 on first 2 and then 38 on the last 2
load core temps are around 50 to 56C across all cores
My setup:
Asus P5n32-e
Intel Q6600 @ 2,8ghz
Crucial Balistix 2x1GB DDR2 800
Bfgtech 8800GTX OC |

Hi there..
There are a ton of factors that you have to take into consideration when overclocking. RAM speeds, Voltages, Temps, so on.. READ THIS guide, see if it helps at all. If not, then come back and ask more specific questions. It's really hard to suggest anything with the info your have provided..
(I'm not trying to be mean)

im sorry what i meant was whenever i increase fsb speed to above 1300 my system wont boot and it isnt because the processor (i tihnk) because i saw it running above 3ghz on a different mobo. i tried increasing voltage etc it's like mobo wont even let me boot into windows.
I hope this will help a bit more if no then uh well i can live with it being at 2.8ghz compared to 2.4 stock its alot faster anyway. |

Ok...
Check your RAM speeds. See how close they are to the stock speeds.
That could be your problem..What's the timings at, and voltage for the RAM? |

crucial balistix 2x1gb DDR2 800 4-4-4-12 @ 2.2v memory speed right now is 945mhz
timings i had to setup by hand and voltage because auto detect detected wrong timings and voltage.

actualy cpu-z shows my ram speed ar 472 and sisoftsandra as 945 is it because its a dual channel and each of channels runs at 472? |

Yeah, it's doubled, so that's right.
I'm not quite sure what the problem could be. It could be a issue with voltage, or just a setting on your board that's not configure right.
But, I really don't know that board all that well, only used one once for a day or so.
But, check this place out. They might be able to help you out on the fine tuning.
Good luck.. |
