AMD has the best prices for dual cores, but I would stay away from their quads ATM. |

Sorry but AMD has already lost this battle. Intel is just waiting to pull the trigger on 45nm quads which will only widen the gap. | True. At this point Intel is just being nice, not releasing their new lineup fully yet. They know they've won, and anything they release now is just going to drive sales down on their current CPU's.
AMD is long behind in the CPU market, the closest thing they have is riddled with problems, and like Ramon said, runs hotter and is slower. There is no reason to buy a AMD Quad at this point, unless your just a fanboy. |

That strategy is fine, as long as opponent doesn't leap frog you (Athlon 64). |

Well according to the last guys posted message at this site, you can't overclock the phenom at all. http://www.hardcoreware.net/amd-phen...ce-hit-to-fix/
I do feel like I downgraded from a AMD Anthlon 64 X2 3800 especially with that fix applied. I must say it sucks. It's like having a 20LB bandage applied to your finger. |

I am considering the MSI P6N Diamond nForce 680i SLI motherboard since it has hardware raid and Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme HD Audio built in or Asus P5N-T Deluxe nForce 780i SLI Mainboard. I also want to overclock the Q6600 to 3.0 GHz. Any opinions on either board are welcome. Which one is better for an overclocking novice? |

IMO, if you're not going to run an SLI setup, you'd be better off with an Intel P35 based chipset. If you're bent on an nVidia setup and you're not running SLI, then save money and go with the 680i. The only real difference between the 680 and 780i is an extra chip that givers you two x16 lanes when running SLI, vs the 680i that splits the lanes to two 8x when running SLI.

I agree with Ramon. The 680i will do everything, and I mean everything you could ever want/need. There are sooo many options in the bios of these boards. Some of the stuff I had to wiki just to figure out WTH it is..
EVGA is a good board, that's what I currently run. And actually, their customer service is pretty awesome also.
If you do get this board though, MAKE SURE YOU GET RAM THAT RUNS ON LESS THEN 2.2Volts. There is a issue with this board and 2.2v RAM. But other then that, this board is awesome!
The only other board I would suggest over this, is this. The x38 chipset is getting really really good OC reviews.
Good luck! |

If I order my computer with 2 sticks of corsair memory @ 1 gig each, will I be able to add 2 sticks @ 2 gig each later? Do all the memory sticks have to be the same size and do I need the upgraded memory with heatspreader for light overclocking? |

This is a rough configuration of the system I want to order from cyberpowerpc for video editing and driving 4 monitors (2 19" Hitachi and 2 28" Hanns G) I won't be running SLI. I want to do mild to med overclocking. I have 2 seagate external HD's (250 and 500 gig) for storage.
Please give opinions on compatibility of parts.
All advice is appreciated.
Thanks!
