ok so i have a laptop(gateway mt3705 - vista home premium) it has 2X 512mb ddr2 533 ram modules, i purchased a 2GB ddr2 677 ram module, i took out one of the 512's because my laptop only has 2 slots, i put in the 2gb ram module and booted, in vista it said i only have 2gb or ram, i should have 2.5 gb right?
ive heard that vista stops reading ram at 3GB even if it is installed. but i only have 2.5, i wonder if it is because of the speed difference in ram 533/677 is there a special way i need to set this up to work? or is in incapable of runing different speeds, i relize that if they will work together that they will run at 533, and i dont mind.
what can you guys tell me to help me to get this to work?
