| 4 GB Corsair Dominator PC2 8500 DDR2 10066 running at 800 MHZ?
I have a dell XPS720 originally it had 2 GB of DDR2 1066 PC2-8500 RAM that ran at 1066MHZ and than I bought 2 more gigs and installed them, and I have to use third party programs like Rivatuner to tweak my system becuase I have no bios support, and I noticed my 4 GB's of Corsair Dominator PC2-8500 C5 10066 MHZ are running at 800 MHZ. So I know my computers only recognizing them as DDR2 800. Is there any kind of program that would let me change the timings and mess around with its voltages? |

NVIDIA Ntune might do it. Has an option for memory, try it I guess. I don't have much experience at all with it though.

If ntune doesn't work you might try memset or systool systool is a bit old so not likely going to work but who knows.
You might also try resetting the bios to see if it picks up the memory correctly. What if any settings does it have?

In the bios settings this is what I have
I have
Performance(tab)
------------------
Multiple CPU Core: OFF or ON set to on
Advanced: Performance Application support ON or OFF I highlighted the on option
in this section the processor Clock speed 2.40GHZ is highlighted but it wont let me change it.
Memory CMD Rate: Auto, 1T, or 2T Auto is highlighted, After reading your post I changed it to 1T and ended up resetting my CMOS. Still picks up my ram at 800Mhz
C1E Support: On or OFF mines on
SpeedStep: off <-----what is that?
Virtualization: off<----again????
EPP/SLI: on or off --- I set this on from off it sounded good when i read it
HDD Accoustic Mode: Bypass,Quiet, Suggested, or performance, Mines on bypass
Power Management: Ac recovery Off
Auto Power on: off
Auto Power time 12:00 AM
Suspend Mode: S3 or S1 mines S3
Maintenence: Serivice Tag, SERR Message, Load Defualts
Event Log: Post Error Memory size different, Memory Size Decreased
Fast Boot
Numlock Key
Post Hotkeys
keyboard errors
Onboard devices
security
system information
Drives
Well everything I've tried wont let me set the CAS latency to 4 for some reason. |

Speedstep is a process of the Intel duel cores.

I wonder what would happen when I turn it on though, would it make the CPU go faster? I'm scared to try it becuase the last thing I messed with in my bios left me stranded resetting the CMOS. |

Speedstep basically turns down your CPU when the system isn't under load. Like instead of running @2.4Ghz or whatever it is stock, it will turn it down to like 1.5Ghz or so, to kill heat and power consumption.
You can have it off or on, I personally have it shut off. It messes with overclocks. Quote: |

| I'd have this on also. Quote: |

| You need to leave that at 2T. There is no way your RAM will run 1T @800Mhz. Quote: |

| Basically, set it to performance, or leave it at bypass. |

Whatever you do, don't use Ntune. Its junk.
Tune everything in the bios only.

Hi,
Not sure if you've solved this yet, but I'll throw in my tuppence.
I had a similar problem. By default, the mobo reads the SPD information from the Corsairs, and this tells the motherboard that they are 800Mhz sticks. However, there is EPP information there too, which will tell the motherboard to run them at 1066. You need to tell the mobo to read this instead of the SPD.
In my case, this meant an option in the BIOS called Enable EPP Support, or something like that. I don't know what it will say in yours, but you need to look for something to do with EPP.
This should sort you out, if the problem is the same as mine, and you won't need to fiddle about with anything else.
Hope this helps. |
