Red face BIOS memory error after memory install

Hey there. My new pc performs fine, but when i installed a second stick of memory, it hitches on the BIOS POST screen and gives me an error message (after removing and reinserting the battery on the motherboard). It tells me that i need to configure CPU settings but is not too specific on how to do this. So i've gone into the BIOS and attempted to automatically configure the settings. After I hit "Save settings and exit", I get a single beep and the BIOS POST message comes right back up. What do I do to get this memory error to go away?

Also, there's some problem with my computer staying on standby. The devices shut off and the monitor goes black, but the computer remains active and even kicks the fans up as if rebooting. The monitor comes back up and the computer remains right back at the desktop where I was before. So in other words, it is "sleeping" for a matter of seconds. How might I fix this problem?

Everything is brand new and I am running Windows Vista. I have gone to the manufacturer's website, emailed, and called frequently, but they are unresponsive (CyberPower PC).

If you take out the new ram stick does the pc run OK?
Does the new stick match the original stick?
