For rock solid stability, run for 24hr.+ and if you are clear(i.e. no errors) then you are rock solid. Another good test would be to do F@H with us (Team 111). We could sure use another quaddie . . . . (end shameless plug) |

Your safe in the 1.4 area.
And dude, I'd reapply thermal paste, and see where that takes you. But, I myself think you just won't be able to OC on the stock cooler. They just are not meant to take the extra heat your OC chip is putting out.
But clean off the old gunk with alcohol, then reapply some new stuff. There are a ton of different methods to applying paste, I myself just use a grain of rice sized dot in the middle of the chip. It's always worked for me. | Hmm. I will go back to stock and see whats going on. If my temps are still ridiculous, then I will re-apply. Or I guess my OC spree is over .
Thanks all for the help! |

I have a quad too. My temps dont match either, nothing to worry about. For you having a stock cooler the temps in the op seem pretty right on to me. Running prime 95 for 24 hours, plus if your house is pretty warm i would expect nothing less from a stock cooler. Of course they are a little high, that is to be expected with a stock cooler. your idle temps seem to be pretty decent. One thing i have to throw in here is check the rpm's on the cpu cooler.

Well, I would feel guilty if I did not report back. I checked my HSF last night, and lo and behold, one pin was not entirely through the mobo! I heard the satisfying *click*, and re-ran P95. Guess what? My highest core now pegs at 59. Current temps:
Core #0 = 59
Core #1 = 57(likes to dip to 56 intermittently)
Core #2 = 57
Core #3 = 57
Not bad at all! Almost an average 7 degree drop! Core #1 even idles at 29, the rest at 30-31. Thats more like what I thought. I'm gonna take it a little higher now, maybe take out the mobo and see if all pins are completely in. anyways, just an update! THanks for your help. 2monsters, I did turn down the fan throttle on the proc, thanks for the idea. Now its goal temp is 42. So it maxes out speed when it hits that. Thanks all, will post future updates! |
