I have looked around online for a while, on some other forums, that people got to overclock the Intel E7200 to 4.3 Ghz and STABLE. I was wondering if this is possible since I'm building my rig again. I was considering an AMD 6400 X2 (3.2 Ghz) with an Asus M3A32 MVP. Now that people have been saying Intel was wiping the market over AMD, I decided to take a look on Intel.
....So, two questions, can the E7200 overclock to 4.0-4.3 gigahertz and be stable and fast and stay cool.
....And what motherboard could go good to overclock with this processor, price range, 150-210. |

Both E7200's and E8400's overclock equally well. One just has less cache. Either one you go with will be fine, but do yourself a favor and get an Intel chipset, not an nVidia one.

IF you do a google search for reviews on the E7200, the lack of FSB and Cache caused a general 5% drop in performance peaking with games around 9%. As already mentioned, its equally good on OC but because of some limitations you may need to up voltage to get a stable overclock over 4ghz from what i have read. |

I have my e7200 at 3.8ghz stable. With a better cooler and having more knowledge of my board im sure I could break the 4.0ghz barrier for 24/7 use. I know one person who already has. I have actually seen 5.0ghz out of this proc
