Bigger Cache size or Core speed?

Which is better?

There seems to be two types of Athlon 64 3400+

One is 2.4 Mhz with 512KB L2 Cache
the other is 2.2 Mhz with 1 MB L2 Cache

The bigger cache would be better, right?

The large the cache - the faster the cpu can process info.

The faster the cpu, the faster the cpu can get info the screen.

You'd probably have a real hard time seeing/feeling/tasting much difference between the two specs you listed.
