Alright I didn't read much on this forum but im going to start off by saying the e8400 is better then the Q6600. Want to know why?
Q6600:
# FSB: 1066MHz = Speed
# L2 Cache: 2 x 4MB
# Manufacturing Tech: 65 nm
E8400:
# FSB: 1333MHz = Speed
# L2 Cache: 6MB
# Manufacturing Tech: 45 nm
45nm = 7% more Clock for Clock.
Going from 1 MB Cache to 2 MB Cache = 5% more Clock for Clock.
(((The q6600 will be able to beat the e8400 in maby 3% of all games made? or less? And games that come out using quad's... well just overclock a e8400 to 4Ghz or even 5Ghz with the right cooling
You do the math. Anyway Good Luck to you! |

You do the math. Anyway Good Luck to you! | i tend to agree with most of that. I can't get my E8500 any higher that 4ghz at the moment and i have a thermalright 120 tower cooler. PM me if you have any advise.
I also believe there is no real point trying to future proof anything (exept maybe the PSU) I'd go with the E8400, it won't be long before new cores come out either. |
