| My first overclock...
Okay Im 15 and I just finished my first build...
I am using the GIGABYTE GA-G31M-S2L LGA 775 Intel G31 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail
With the E7200 Wolfdale
and 2gb OCZ Platinum
So far I raised the fsb to 333mhz (from 266) with a mult of 9.5
giving me 3.16ghz and I am keeping my vcore at 1.175
The cpu idles at ~34C in the bios...
Should I go ahead and try to increase the fsb anymore or just leave it? |

That's not a bad OC. But I know for a fact those chips have more in them.
Might try upping the FSB to around 3.2-3.4Ghz. I have one of those chips running 3.4Ghz at 1.25 v-core and it's ran flawlessly since I got it.
Folds 24/7.
I even used the exact same board..
V That's after 26hours of prime95 test.

Laptops and desktops are two totally different animals..
I also should mention, watch your temps. 45nm cores have a lower temp threshold, and also a lower v-core threshold. I was personally afraid to take mine any higher then 1.25v's. I've seen others run around 1.3, but IMO that's asking for trouble. |

For your first O/C, that's pretty good. Karma is right though, that chip can do more. My first O/C was with a Celery 300 if any of you remember that beast of a chip.

Wait a minute, you are saying that you can put less into a new proc and they can't handle as much heat? I knew they didn't put out as much, but I didn't know that.
So, are 65 nm's better for OC'ing then?
