| what should my cpu voltage be? (new to overclocking)
ive got an asus p5k se mobo socket 775LGA with a q6600 (2.4ghz) processor.
i have upped the fsb to 333mhz from 266 (i think)
left the multipler at x9
and changed the cpu core voltage to 1.4v
the overclock is fine and temp does not exceed 42 degrees c under stress (got aN asus silent knight cooler)
only problem is...when i turn the pc on, the power comes on for 2 seconds, cuts out, and then kicks in again. is this normal or should i lover or raise the core voltage??
the psu is 700w but not sure of the make. g card is ocuk 8800gtx.
many thanks for any replies.

the powersupply is probly not the problem, it should have more than enough power for your system, ive got a 8800 GTX and a P4 and high end mobo, on a 550W powersuupply, but it can struggle with 4 ram sticks in, and starts to smelland burn
Have you tried resetting the bios?
the voltage can go up to 1.5 volts but there isnt much point, as it will run alot hotter with increased voltage.
have you tried overclocking with just the normall voltage?
it could be the ram being overclocked aswell, but it shouldent cause a problem.
Im not to sure on this one, try different things like a spare GFX card(dont go buying anything), withought the hard drive etc.....

That's common on some boards. I have a MSI P35 board here that will do the same thing. It starts up, then shuts off after 2 seconds, then will start up again and run fine from there.
I'm not sure what to make of it, but I know one other person has this same board and it does the same thing on his too.. |

i think it may be sorted now. i upped the cpu voltage from 1.4 to 1.4125 and it seems ok. since doing this overclock ive noticed that my memory score on the windows experience has gone up from 5.6 to 5.9. i didnt change any of the memory settings either.
is this normal? cheers for the first replys. |
