I'm about as new to this as a lot of you would be to GunSmithing not totally an idiot though with an ability to pick things up easily the 1st time, Anyone willing to provide me with the knowledge needed to O/C my 1st PC, think of me as your protogea if ya will. I've search here trying to discover the info needed before posting my request but came up empty handed. I'am thinking i've got a unit that very little can be done to to make it better but it cant hurt to try, well if it dose it wont cost alot to replace it with something better, so why not.
My mobo is a BCS 945gct-m3 you know the Wal Mart specials the ever popular emachine , the pcu is a Itel Celeron dual core e1200 with 2 gigs of ram the power supply is a 250 w which may be a issue for all i know. Well those are the particulars so which one of you brainiacts want to help the dummy step by step

Anywho, your right for the most part.
That motherboard really doesn't have the options you need to OC your CPU. And if it did, I believe your PSU would be close to limiting you also. Not to mention you probably need to upgrade your CPU Heatsink so it can take some extra heat.
So in short, there is some prep work that needs to be done before you can really OC at all.
With that said, how much are you willing to throw into this hobby? (yes, it's a hobby, you'll see) lol
You could start with a PSU upgrade, and Motherboard upgrade. And depending on your OS install, you'll probably need to buy another one, as most are tied to the Mobo "legally"
If you have any questions, you can always PM me. |

You'll have to get a new motherboard before you can even think about overclocking. Like Karma said, it's a hobby, and just like any other hobby, it'll cost some $$$

Nemo needs to google some manners, or stop posting.
I mean its one thing if someone wants the definition of a tech term, sure, ... Wikipedia...
but for specifics on something like overclocking an Emachines, you ask those that can troubleshoot a specific situation
A. You will have to replace the power supply...
Its just a fact, even if you dont overclock anything, eventually it WILL fail and probably take most of your machine with it
B. Youll have to replace the motherboard as stated, but you dont have to buy a new OS or spend all that much ...
You should be able to do this for under $85 shipped Newegg.com - SILVERSTONE ST350 350W ATX12V 2.2 Power Supply - Power Supplies Cheapest... Best... |
