That looks fine, but I'd stick with the mobo/cpu I linked to or the mobo electric linked to.
It is also just a bit cheaper at newegg for that mobo plus the cpu I linked to (which is faster than the X2 3800+ and uses less power). Newegg.com - ASUS M2N-SLI AM2 NVIDIA nForce 560 SLI MCP ATX AMD Motherboard - AMD Motherboards
As for updating in late 09, it is possible, but if you want a new cpu you'll probably need a new motherboard as well (and possibly new ram). Intel is moving to all DDR3 late this year with their new cpu's, and AMD will probably do the same thing next spring/summer, so unless a mobo happens to have DDR2 support at that time and supports the new cpu's you'll need new ram as well.
Upgrading is just a hard thing to do with computers after a few years without throwing everything out (and the AM2/LGA775 platform is near EOL). But if you have a SATA hard drive/optical drive those will continue to be supported for years (if you have IDE you'll need an add in card). If you get a PCI-Express video card that'll likely work for another decade or more.

Yes, it comes with a slower processor than the one I linked to and is altogether more expensive than the same motherboard at newegg plus the cpu I linked to. |
