So, with stock voltage and only changing the memory multiplier I've got my E3110 from the stock 3.0Ghz to 3.7Ghz. Memory is at 820mhz right now. I'm using G-Skill 2x 2Gb modules DDRII 800. Asus P5E, and Xigmatek HS-1283 HS/F
Anyone else with this chip doing well? Checked the stepping, step is 6 and revision is C0.
I'll bet I can hit 3.8-3.9 with a bump in voltage, but I'll wait for now.

Nice OC Bat.
What's the VID on your chip, and what are you running on the V-core right now?
How's your temps looking? |

74c right now. 3.81Ghz. V-core is now 1.3v. Not sure on the VID as I was just using CPU-Z. I can't find the box. 422mhz fsb, memory at 844mhz. Much more and heat will be to much. I'll have to pull the side of the case off and see if I can get a stable 3.9. |

A couple of questions for ya bat..
1. What temp program are you using?
From everything I've read, Realtemp is the more accurate program for Intel 45nm cores. 65nm cores Coretemp is the best.
2. You can find the VID in coretemp. CPU-z doesn't show it.
3. Have you thought about lapping? I know it seems extreme, but it really does help.
Maybe not the CPU itself, but did you look to see how flat the bottom of your HSF was? If it's curved at all, lapping will improve temps drastically.
4. Are you using just the one stock fan that came with the s1283? I know you can mount a second 120mm fan on the back side of the cooler, in a push pull config and it will drop temps some more. I did this with my arctic freezer, and it dropped load temps 4-5°. Idle temps also dropped.
But after I lapped both my HSF and CPU, and then added the second fan, I saw almost a 10°c drop across the board on load and idle temps.
If you feel like getting your hands dirty, I would do one, if not all the above. That should tame temps enough to make 3.9Ghz stable..
(BTW, you making me want to go higher on my OC now.) |

LOL. The heatsink looks fairly flat. It's polished really well. I'll borrow a micrometer to see how flat it is. I really want to see what this processor can do now. I'll lap it in a few days. I'll download Realtemp and get a better estimate of what my temps are, but I'll have to do it after I pick up the wife and we eat dinner. |

I would use real temp though. As kk stated core temp for 65nm chips real temp for 45 nm chips. |

What voltage are you running?
It's got to be insanely high to get temps like that. |

It's a Wolfdale 45nm chip, hence the Real Temp program. Voltage is high, but not too high. Still only at 1.3v. I'm on my laptop right now, but I'm going to back off my other machine to 3.5Ghz for now. I'll lap the processor next week. Maybe I'll drop the chip back to stock and see what the lowest voltage it can handle is while still being stable. I only increased the voltage thinking it would stabilize it more. I'll back it down and see if I can get the same speed.
