| 4GB memory only shows 3262MB why?
I have G.Skill 2x2GB DDR2-1066, and my computer only show 3262MB.. Anybody know why? (I have vista ultimate x64)

never mind, i just found solution, i had to go to bios and change something about ... remap memory....., not it shows 4gb

any 32bit vista os will only utilize 3.3g of ram but still shows up what ever the amount installed. just thought i would share that info. | |

That became a true statement when SP1 came out for Vista. Before then, it would only disply 3.3... | |

32 bit OSes can only recognize 4 gigs of memory (because 2^32=4 gigs). But that includes all other forms of memory like the video card ram, bios, etc. The system will also usually not let something use up all that 4 gigs
