Was going through my parts bin at home and stumbled across these.
2 Xeon processors:
3200DP/1M/533/ 1.525v Socket 604
8x512 PC 133 ECC CL3 memory.
Is there any value to any of these?

Im looking at possibly building a server around those two processors. I will need a socket 604 board, memory, HDD, PSU, and a Pedastal case for the Xeon board. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. It will be primarily used to host dedicated gaming servers from home and at LAN's.

Sure, here is a suggestion. The processors are out of date and not worth much with the declining prices of processors. Building a server based on processors you have on hand isnt exactly a good waste of money, your better off buying a new barebones and starting with more current hardware.
That ram is going to be useless unless someone has a specific need to upgrade a specific system that they can not migrate to a new server. |

Before you start dropping money on a server, how about finding out the legalities of hosting a server on your own residential broadband connection? If you don't already know, hosting a server on any large "name brand" ISP is basically a no-brainer violation of your contract and TOS. Comcast specifically states in their TOS that they block any server use and not only will you find yourself without an ISP but they also reserve the right to fine you for breaking your TOS. In order to "run a server" of any kind you typically need to get business class service that they stop specifically blocking ports for common services.
Don't expect to hear alot of symphathy from them when they drop a $2,500 fine and cancel your service. |

Make sure you get a gigabit NIC and that your Switches are gigabit as well. Ive seen CS:S servers on P3's.
EDIT: Since its lan gaming and your not building a rack system to house a whole slew of servers. Just build a normal computer and install what ever flavor OS you want and the server version of the games you want to play.
