| amd athlon 64 X2 5000+ be not running dimms at dual channel
I JUST BOUGHT A 5000+ 64X2 AND A MSI K9A2 CF MOBO .......... IM USING 2X 1GB MOUDULES 800 MHZ ( DIFFERENT BRANDS ) ANYWAY BOTH MODULES HAVE CL4 TIMMINGS ..... BUT BIOS ALWAYS DETECTS THEM RUNNING AT SINGLE CHANNEL ..... I PUT THE 2 DIMMS IN DIMM SOCKET 1 AND 2 RESPECTIVELY AND 3 AND 4 RESPECTIVELY AS THE MANUAL SUGGESTED BUT IT JUST DOESNT RUN AT DUAL CHANNELS :\..........
AND THE MEMORY CONTROLLER IS INTEGRATED IN THE PROCSSESOR RIGHT,SO IS THE PROCESSOR FAULTY :s .... :_(..

are the sticks of RAM in the same colored slots? if not, do that, they should run Dual Channel then.
also make sure they are both either Double sided or single Sided sticks of RAM (chips are on both sides or one side), they both also should be same in that respect as well to run Dual Channel. |

They should either be in DIMM 1 and 3 or DIMM 2 and 4 for dual channel operation.

| MSI K9A2 Platinum Review - Page 2 - The Board
"One thing I did not like is that the memory channels are NOT color keyed; so if you put your two memory sticks in say the two green slots, you will be running in single channel mode"
i think this is your board |

no shouldn't HAVE to be, but can help...
as long as their the same capacity, Density (number of chips per stick & both either Double or single sided), and though doesn't require it, but helps, that their rated for same speeds (one will just default to the slowers speed), you should be able to run Dual channel...
This is his Mobo: MSI -- MICRO-STAR INT'L CO., LTD.

It's not bad stuff from what I understand. As long as it's working fine in your rig, that's all that matters. |
