I was planning on upgrading my system to the i7, had my ram, cpu and board picked out. I was just going to reuse my case, video card, PSU, etc.
I just noticed that the motherboard i chose had a 8-pin 12volt connector, Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-EX58-EXTREME LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards
The board i'm using now is a GA-P35-DQ6, it also has the 8-pin 12v connector but it only needs to use the 4-pin, it has a cover on the other 4 pins.
My PSU is the Ultra X3 1000 watt, only has the 4-pin plug.
Is my PSU going to work on this motherboard or do i need a PSU with the 8-pin connector? |
