Stick it in what? Providing some technical details would be helpful

edit: I should say assuming that everything is compatible then yes adding ram is a pretty straight forward upgrade. Swap out the old sticks with the new and you should be good to go.

Now as for loading the disks - what disks are you talking about? What the heck do you want to load? If you are just adding more ram you don't need to reload the os or anything like that if thats what you are asking about.

Well for starters you need to make sure your motherboard supports 4gbs of ram. You'll also need to make sure you buy compatible ram. As for speeding the system up, yeah you'll see some performance increase but fixing drag - that sounds like it might be a driver issue with your gpu.

Hit the dell site and read the tech specs Documentation
  • Memory Type -Dual Channel DDR SDRAM
  • Memory connectors -four
  • Memory capacities -128-, 256-, 512-MB or 1-GB
  • Maximum memory -4 GB
  • Memory type - PC2700 (333-MHz) or PC3200 (400-MHz) DDR SDRAM (non-ECC)

Looks like it will support 4x 1gb sticks only. Since its DDR and not DDR 2 and you probably aren't running a 64bit OS you would be better off just adding in 2x 1GB sticks to what you already.

yeah. I suggest you stick to 2gb. Its also kinda a waste to buy 4 gigs of such old technology. DDR (the ram you need for your system) has been outdated for a long time now... Besides, you are only going to see a difference from 2 to 4 in apps that are probably going to be too much for the rest of your system to handle anyways.
