ram problem

hi friend's.... this is my system :
.........ram: 4*1GB (1066)
.........cpu: E8400
.........vga: 9400gt (1GB)



problem : in windows 32bit(xp & vista) my ram known as 2.5GB in fact it must be 3.5 ... but in 64bit , 4GB known... what's wrong?

'Ospray' kindly provided a link.

32bit windows can only address a maximum of 4gb which includes system ram, video ram, HDD cashe etc.....
