Hey there i saw that there were other threads like this though they were rather old , I have a broken pin on a cpu , could i break a vss pin (black) and put it in the socket ? or for the ethernet cable trick do i take a single copper wire strand or do I take a portion of the cable with the sleeve. Thanks

its broken completely off and not just bent right. You cant fix that on your own. there is no way you can properly attach the new pin properly to the CPU unless you have lots of experience with soldering. even if you do, you risk destroying your motherboard with it... and since you are asking here you probably dont have such skills. If you cant find someone who will do it for you (a jeweler might be able to) properly I suggest just getting a new CPU.

seems he put the broken pin in with a pair of needle nose directly into the socket and NOT on to the cpu , I wan to attempt this by breaking off one of the vss pins which are not needed and putting it in the hole where my needed broken pin needs to be , Just want a second opinion of someone who has done this or for more methods |

Just get a piece of copper wire that is the right diameter and cut it to the right length. |

IMO you will need a single uninsulated strand that will bottom out in the mobo socket & be sticking up high enough to contact the CPU.

I've seen this repair before, JLK has the idea, if you use another pin it won't be long enough to bottom out and reach the CPU.
The piece of wire has to be bare, and just slightly longer than the space, so when you clamp in the CPU there is pressure on the replacement pin/wire.
