hi,
i recently installed (physically, at least) an extra 1gb ram on my asus laptop, and found immediately that in vista's 'system properties', and others, it still read 2gb and not the 3 i was hoping for. however, having searched on google for things like 'vista ram detect' etc. and having been lead to an answer on this site, i downloaded pc wizard 09 to get my full computer details (below) as that seemed to be a useful thing to do before posting on here, and pc wizard seems to acknowledge that i have an extra 1gb 'physical memory' (see the arrow on my computer details). so.. does this mean the extra 1gb is taking effect anyway, and vista's 'system properties' or whatever just hasn't noticed? or because vista hasn't noticed, is it still not working how it should?
thanks a lot,
bob

If the video card 1GB? If so that would be why you only see 2GB and not 3.

| That is not a video card, its on-board.
Easiest way to find out is open task manager and have a look at total physical memory.

okay your video card or as it is actually called on board graphics take only 129MB which means you should be able to see 2.87GB.
The only answer I can come up with is that your motherboard cannot support 3GBs of memory. PC wizard on the oher hand says you have 3GB which I cannot explain why it says that. |

What I dont get is you purchased a 1gb stick and put it into a laptop with 2gb. As it only has two slots that would lead me to believe you had 1 2gb stick in there already.....
Look here and see how much it mentions.
According to crucial it also states max 2gb..... If that is indeed your laptop.... Computer memory upgrades for ASUS F5Rl Laptop/Notebook from Crucial.com |
