    oc i7 920

     
    hey im getting a 920 cpu soon and i would like to know how to overclock it.

    it will be water cooled with this Corsair Hydro Series H50 CPU Cooler - $129.00 : PC Case Gear, Delivering quality computer parts Australia wide

    my mobo will be an evga x58 3x sli

    i would like to oc it to 3.8 ghz, I have done some research myself and 3.8 is 100% stable

    im not sure what else you need to know just ask if i left something out

    not 100% accurate.

    as with Overclocking with anything, as they say YMMV, your miles may vary.

    not all chips OC to the same speeds, some just can't get much out of them, while others can OC to beyond 50% or more over stock speeds.

    as others have said, don't buy a chip on the assumption you'll be able to OC as high as everyone else.

    3.8GHz should be possible, but its not guaranteed, nor is it guaranteed to be stable.

    but just wanted to throw that out there in case for whatever reason you don't achieve the expected speeds.
