atm i have a 7100gs and is really old and crap so i tried to overclock it seeing as im getting a new computer sometime soon and i put the core clock to 407 mhz from 398 mhz and the memory clock up to 507 mhz from 500 i know that there will be no difference at all in fps i was planning to go up slowly but my screen went blank and so i just shut it down, though the temperature before overclocking at idle is 72 degree and when gaming after 2 20 minute games of cod4 i checked temp and it was hitting 102 degree and the green line turned yellow is that dangerous for a gpu? but ive had this card a while now but i never checked the temperature of it im assuming it was around the same temp anyways but im just checking to make sure |

102C is insanely hot for such a low end GPU. so yes. most of the high end GPU's have a Temp Threshold of around 120C, if that puts it into perspective.
if thats 102F, then its still running cool.

Just as a comparison, what was it like before the overclocking? |

1. how many fans do you have in your computer???
2. it shouldn't be that hot even when overclocking it
3. What program are you using to detect these "temps"
My best guess is say that the thing is just way to old and something went bad on the card somewhere down the line if your case is well ventilated. |

A graphics card should last 5 years, theoretically, at least, if you have decent cooling, and a decent PSU (too little power could damage it). |

you haven't answered my questions though. a card can be bad right from the manufacturer. |
