I'm redoing my loop and i have a question about the radiator, i'm using the swiftech H20-220 and i was under the impression that the nozzles had to be above the radiator, that posed a problem cuz the holes in my case were on the lower part of the back, does it really matter if the nozzles are above or below the radiator? |

What do you mean when you say "nozzles"?
The barbs? If so, it really doesn't matter what position the radiator is in, as long as you have a pump with enough power. In some situations it can cause more restriction, but it's not a big deal with most setups. |

My radiator is sideways and I haven't had a problem with it. Course mine is smaller than your too.

Yeah sorry i ment barbs, idk someone told me on the these dual radiators the barbs have to be at the top but that made it hell for my build, i had to use 2 sets of elbow adaptors to get it from the bottom of the case to the barbs then back down, which i'm sure thats causing some flow issue.
Reason i asked is i'm planning on redoing my loop, i'm going to make this loop entirely dedicated to the CPU, then have the chipset and the video cards on a separate loop going to a corsair nautilus 500 (old but it'll still work).
For the most part my computers done, just some little additions to it:
Switch out 6gig OCZ gold 1600mhz with 12gig OCZ Blade 2000mhz
Replace my old 150gb RaptorX with 300gb VelociRaptor (i actually need this i have 2 gigs free left! lol)
Add a 3rd GTX 285
This one is later down the road but definitly replacing the i7 with an i9
Then some machine guns, missiles, and the capability to launch a nuke....j/k |

The reasoning for the barbs or nozzles on the top is to make sure you are venting all the air pockets from the radiator. Some come with a vent on the end opposite the barbs so they can be mounted "upside down". If you mount with barbs down, before you secure it, fill it and run it barbs up to get all the air out. An air pocket could cause a decrease in efficiency. Any air in the lines ( from pump cavitation, a leak on the pumps suction, etc. ) will get trapped in the rad. and stay there ( can't get pushed back out ), causing you to lose cooling in your rad.
By adding more 90's you are increasing friction losses in you piping, this will probably not hurt if you oversize the pump. Try 2 x 45's and it will help cut down on these losses.
Just want to add, wow a tech. question I can answer.

In most cases, you can shake the PC/tip the rad/etc and you can get out all the air pockets. |

Im not in the know of watercooling, but I would'nt use any elbow adapters.
@JJ well I guess we know which one of us is gonna setup the watercooling in your new rig.

@Karma - i still did all that just to make sure there were no air pockets lol.
@Aaron - yea i didnt want to add the elbows but i thought i didnt' have a choice, btw i may still add the nuke, i don't know yet |
