Upgrading CPU in P5W DH Deluxe & 32bit vs 64bit

I have a nicely appointed ASUS P5W DH Deluxe MB using XP Home edition w/Intel Q6600 Core2 Quad. I use computer for modest editing of videos and graphics using Pinnacle Studio Deluxe 10, though I can upgrade.

I recently added RAM and found that I couldn't address the RAM until I upgraded from XP Home to XP Pro. With Windows 7 looming and my ability to obtain a legit copy for peanuts, I have decided to wait a month and upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate to address the RAM I have installed.

Have a Geforce 8600 GT board, so I suppose that limits me to 32 bit unless I upgrade card to 64 bit?

32 bit or 64 bit? I don't mind spending a little money for a newer 64bit CPU. And a graphics card, too. I think that the mother board will accept it.

I am not really too savvy with computers, so I am seeking some advice from folks who understand 32 bit and 64 bit issues better than I do.

Thanks.

That system will run 64bit fine.... Older gpu's will work so long as they have drivers for them. The Q6600 is a 64bit cpu so you are good to go.

You will probably want to buy Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. Ultimate has all versions of Win7 on one disk & is priced as such.
