6 core or 4 core
Im buying my computer in about a week and now a 6 core cpu has come out in Australia and it costs $90 less then a quad core I7 930 that Im going to buy atm and im wondering what to go with cos im not sure about the 6 core mainly because no games use 6 core yet Im pretty sure, and its $90 cheaper :S theres gotta be something bad about to to be selling for that much.
What would you guys go for?

I'd go with the X6.
eventually that is what i've been leaning towards as my future upgrade path for about the last year now, and it still holds for me.
won't need it for another year or two myself, but that's my vote for you.

Oh Wow, didn't realize they'd be so cheap, and since its AUS dollars, should be even less for us over here...
might have to rethink my 2nd build down the road sometime for one of these... at $1000+ for an Intel six core, little beyond my budget range LOL.
would come in so handy for 3D rendering.i7 940//Corsair H60//EVGA X58 SLI LE//6GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz//2x EVGA GTX 560 Ti FPB SLI//NZXT Hale82 850W//CM 690 II Advanced//Win7 64//WD 74GB V-raptor, 750GB Black, 1.5TB Green

I haven't seen any benchmarks for the new 6 core AMD systems. I'd wait for those before deciding on a purchase.

IMO it just shows most of what we already know. More cores doesn't mean much unless you are running heavily threaded applications that can utilize them. But dang at the price they are pushing these things out its hard not to want one
