How can I overclock this old CPU?

Okay, so I got my computer in late 2007 that I use for gaming and its all pretty good. I have an overclocked Nvidia 8600 GT

Think I could clock it more without destroying it?

and 2GB of ram. (doesn't seem to be doing the trick with todays games) My only problem is that I believe I have one of the worst CPUs in the world.

The speed of the CPU is ruining all my gaming possibilities and by this I mean I can't run any game newer than 2007. My computer also seems remarkably slower than other peoples computers.

I've checked out several programs that can perhaps overclock my core speed but none of them seem to support my raunchy old chipset. I also wondered if I could buy a new one for a cheap price that would fit my computer. I don't know how to determine whether or not something is compatiable with my specifications.)

Can someone help me? I'd really appreciate it. thanks in advance.

EDIT: I know I can modify some attributes from the BIOS but I dunno how to do that either. I'm new to hardware overclocking.
