    New RAM won't work

    I have a Dell Dimension E520 with 2X 512 currently installed. I bought 2 X 1GB and tried to install that but when I put the new memory in it will not boot up. I have updated my bios to 2.4 earlier today but that did not help. I have tried each one of the new memory sticks by themselves and I can't get the PC to restart, but the old memory still runs everything fine.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    From the Dell website

    Memory

    DDR21 is a memory architecture that enables systems to improve performance and reduce power consumption. The amount of RAM you have determines how many programs can be executed at one time and how much data can be readily available to a program. It also determines how quickly your applications perform and how many applications you can easily toggle between at one time. Simply put, the more RAM you have, the more programs you can run smoothly and simultaneously.

    * Up to 4GB23 Dual-Channel DDR2 SDRAM (533MHz)

    Sure you have the correct memory ????????

    According to my BIOS the memory I currently have in (which is what it came with) is 1 GB or 667 MHZ ram. I purchased 2 more 1 GB cards, they are DDR2 PC5300 667MHz. Everything matches as far as type of memory, but the computer will not start up with the new memory in.

    Try putting in just the new RAM, then reset the CMOS (computer should be unplugged from the wall). Power it up and see If it boots. If it does go to BIOS and Load Defaults - Save & Exit.

    I can not get the computer to boot with the new memory in. I tried removing the battery for 5 minutes and then putting the new member in before turning it on. The fan comes on but the monitor stays blank. The 3 and 4 lights are on on the front of the tower but it doesn't do anything else.

    That code indicates bad RAM.

    Memory modules are detected, but a memory failure has occurred.
