HP dv6140us - Want to Increase Speed

I have an HP dv6140us with AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile Tech. TL-56 795 MHz and I would like to know if there are any ways to significantly increase its speed. The only hardware modification was to add a GB of RAM. Is it posible to run 4GB?

I know what the specs are. I wouldnt be at this forum if was following manufacturer's instructions...LOL. I was just wondering if there was anything that I could change within the system that would allow me to install more RAM.

Ask in the HP section at one of these forums.

I was able to confirm that my Intel Compaq notebook (spec'ed at 2GB RAM max) can run 3GB (2GB + 1GB DDR2) at the first site.

I think I can offer a few bits of knowledge here. First off, I work for HP now, as a notebook technician. That particular model you have is probably one of THE most troublesome models HP has put out recently. The nvidia 6150 chipsets were actually the subject of a class action suit against Nvidia, and starting Dec 21st(think that was the date, I'll double check monday at work) you can call into HP or get on their website and trade this model in for a new model. Nvidia is paying for it all (because of their horrible solder jobs on the chipsets, MANY MANY notebooks failed) so I'd hold tight till then.
I'll double check the date monday at work and let ya know for sure when that starts.

    EDIT:
But to answer your question, I wouldn't try to add more ram in then what it says it supports. Especially with the chipset yours has. It may work, but it will probably kill your notebook. (mostly because that chipset)

Will it be like everything else from HP, where the computer has still be under warranty?!?! Are they just talking about changing out the chipset or the entire computer? This sounds too good to be true.

They are going to have you send in your current notebook, and they will send you a replacement. I'm still unsure of which exact model they are sending out, but they are replacing them. Make sure you have all your data backed up though.
And all HP's notebooks come with a 1 year warranty, some models have a 2 year. If you call HP while your still in your warranty, you can get a discount on extending your warranty. (2 year or 3 year extensions, which will include hardware warranty's)
    =)

Well I am WAY out of warranty! I can't even really remember when I bought it...2006 or 2007, maybe 2005. It came with Windows XP Media Center 2005 pre-installed. Why would I have to send this one back? What if I had bought one of the computers that fell within the lawsuit parameters, but I had thrown it away because it was a dead piece of crap? They have documentation of who purchased the the particular models. I see some SERIOUS room for HP to try and wiggle their way out.
