Upgrading Athlon 64 X2 dilemma
I have an Athlon 64 X2 4800+ and today my boss gave me an Athlon 64 X2 5200+
What would you all do...keep your old one or upgrade? Is the 2MB L2 cache and slightly faster speed worth the thermal hit (I like being cool/quiet) and micron size?
See comparison here.
I'm probably going to keep my old one since I'm not complaining about slowness and I'm lazy. But then again I've never tried 2MB of L2 cache...

Realistically you won't see a bunch of difference, however w/o giving us some idea of what you use the pc for its hard to say how much you'd actually see. If all you are doing is searching the web doing some word processing ect you won't see much change. If you are doing some gaming you might see a little more, if you are doing some video rendering or something intensive maybe more still but you aren't looking at a major difference either way.
Here's a better side by side comparisonLast edited by RicheemxX; March 30th, 2011 at 08:17 PM.
