    Question Possible Cpu upgrade?

Hey all just a question for anyone that is really good with Laptop based processors, I have a Asus G73jw. (I have attached a Cpu-Z screenie for you to see the tech details) I am wanting to put the Intel® Core™ i7-940XM Processor Extreme Edition
(8M Cache, 2.13 GHz) ( Intel® Core™ i7-940XM Processor Extreme Edition (8M Cache, 2.13 GHz)with SPEC Code(s)SLBSC ) into it, will they be compatible with each other? I tried to find it myself but I just got more confused the more I read about it, so any help would be much obliged.

Edit: add the rest of the screens from Cpu-Z

Not really good with laptops, but I can read.
    Intel® Core™ i7-940XM Processor Extreme Edition (8M Cache, 2.13 GHz)with SPEC Code(s)SLBSC
    Intel® Core™ i7-740QM Processor (6M cache, 1.73 GHz)with SPEC Code(s)SLBQG

Both processors, are supported by your chip set, but the Extreme uses 10 watts more power.
That means 10 watts more heat, and the cooler might not be able to handle it.
Dose Asus make a laptop with that CPU?

The cooling on this is nothing short of amazing I'll upload some screenings later of its temps when the current CPU is at 3.20 ghz I have a storm nf17 laptop cooler for it. As for asus I don't think they. Make one with the desired cpu n it.

Does you BIOS have CPU vcore adjustments? If not, spending $1100 to go from 3.2GHz to 3.33GHz doesn't seem like really good bang-for-your-buck. Just sayin...

I don't see it anywhere but I also want the best CPU for my laptop I can aquire, I was going to waste a bunch on an older model but decided to upgrade the whole laptop, as far as I know ASUS isn't making any laptop with the CPU in it as of yet. The Current temps are about 99-104 idle and about 120-130ish full load. no where near TJ max.

Looks to me like you're looking at a scam site, you honestly think they are selling a $2k laptop for $600 and with wire transfer being the only option.

edit: Looks like it is possible to get 16gb in there, why anyone on a lappy would need that much ram is beyond me but it has been done. It could be a bios mod or something else. But here's is a review of the one from Xotic PC's XoticPC’s G73JW: A Good Gaming Notebook Made Better? : A Better Starting Point?

    note the $3600 price tag.

What are you using the laptop for?

As JLK said throwing another $1200 into it just because "you want the fastest chip" doesn't seem make a lot of sense. Price to performance wise you just aren't going to get that much more benefit out of it for what you are spending.

Hardcore gaming and auto-cad is its primary use, with my job I am on the move alot so I tried to look up the best possible CPU option for me and came across this I7 that I talked about in the post above.

At that point you might as well just wait and put that 1k towards a newer laptop in a year or so. That 100mhz will NOT be noticeable, but the increased draw on battery life and heat output would. Stick with that 3.2ghz.
