    (1x2gb) DDR RAM where to find

     
    My mother has a Gateway MX7118 and it need memory upgrade to run...It came with 512mb, but I want to upgrade the one slot to a 2GB PC2700 DDR SDRAM SODIMMs Where can I find one stick not two!?!!? Thanks for the help in locating the seemingly impossible to find!

    It will not take a 2GB stick, max is 1GB.

    You are best picking it from crucial.

    the gateway site says 2gbs Gateway Support - MX7118 Notebook Specifications

    but I'm thinking its likely 1gb x 2 slots

    DDR SDRAM can only handle up to 1 GB per slot.
    If you want 2 gig, you will need to throw out the 512...
    Be very careful when buying 1 GB DDR SRAM sticks on the web! Most of them are double density modules that won't work on most systems.... Had that happen to me too, nasty surprise. Don't buy a GB for less than 35 bucks, unless you are shure your system can handle double density... check it!
