Overclocking a P4 2.2
Hey, I was wondering what's the easiest way to overclock a P4 2.2 Ghz processor. I haven't bought a MB yet either, so you're not restricted there. I've never seen a BIOS that lets you tweak bus speeds... so I have no clue which ones would have something like that...
Oh yeah, since I'm gonna be getting a 2.2A processor, would it make things a lot easier to get a MB w/ 533 (133 quad-pumped) FSB? Because then it'd be pretty easy to raise the FSB to 133... and that would put it at about 3 Ghz? Anyways, basically looking to OC a 2.2 to 2.6+ and looking for the easiest way to do it.

my 2.2a will do 2.6 but runs far too hot with my heatsink. if you gonna overclock with the 2.26(b) pentium 4 ensure you get decent memory to withstand those high FSB's .

My advice would be to scout some potential mobo's, enter the mobo into google and read the hardware reviews. They will comment on the OCability of the mobo's in those articles.

Is it easier to OC a 2.2 A using a MB w/ 400 MHz FSB or 533 FSB? I would think taking a 2.2A w/ its 400 MHz FSB and raising it to 533 MHz on a 533 FSB MB would be easier, but I'm not sure...

yes you want a 533 mhz bus. 2 reason yes its easier to overclock and you can upgrade your chip later to any 533 mhz processor.

Epox 4BDA2+ is what I'm using. Bios lets you adjust FSB, lock the pci and agp freqs at default, adjust volts on memory and cpu, and memory timings. Should serve you well. It's not rated as a 533MHz board, but I'm there - with the retail hsf and a P4 1.8A.
WHUT?
