    Water cooling?

    Dear everyone,

I made a computer with the following specs:

    i7-2600K
ASUS GTX 560ti CU II Top
    ADATA Gaming Series 1600mhz 4GB X 2 Kit
    Asrock Z68 Extreme 4
    Cooler Master 650 80+ Bronze

    Chassis is:
    Cooler Master Silencio 550

I'm planning to overclock the i7 to around 4.5Ghz.

I'm not sure if fans would be enough to cool my computer down. And even if they were, they would make too much noise (I chose the Silencio chassis because I don't want noise >.<).

My friends tell me to consider water cooling, but I have no idea if it really works.

Can anyone suggest good water cooling systems, or explain how a water cooling systems works? Furthermore, if you could, please compare fans to water cooling.

    THX!

I have been water cooled on my CPU for about six years. It will certainly get you a much better overclock than air coolers. There is a water block mounted on the CPU, water circulates by a pump to the radiator. The radiator has noisy fans mounted on it to remove the heat from the water.

This kit is an updated version of the kit I bought years ago...

Absolutely. I don't think I'll ever go back to air on my main gamer's CPU.

I killed an HD 4890 video card while simply mounting a water block - stock air cooler for my video, but water for my Q9650 CPU at 4.0+ GHz.

If you can deal with the maintenance and the large upfront cost then yes its definitely worth it.... Though if you just want to occasionally blow away the dust and that's it..... Stick with air.

Most 2600Ks can hit 4.5Ghz on air.
