What heatsink/fan should to cool my CPU for my HP Pavilion Elite m9040n?

Went to Compusa to buy a new heatsink/fan that's being used to keep the CPU cool. When I needed help a gentleman told me they didn't have what I needed in stock and his reason is because the heatsink/fan is a proprietary product made by ASUS for my HP Desktop computer. I'm a bit confused as I thought as long as I got one to fit I didn't have to care who made it. Furthermore, this is what I know about the specifications for my motherboard and the type of Intel Processor I have.

    Motherboard description -
    Manufacturer's motherboard name: ASUS IPIBL-LA
    HP/Compaq name: Berkeley-GL8E

    Form Factor -
    Micro-ATX: 24.4 cm (9.6 inches) x 24. cm (9.6 inches)

    Chipset -
    Northbridge: Intel G33
    Southbridge: ICH9R

    RAM -
    Sockets: 4 xDDR2
    Amount: 3GB
    Speed: PC2-5300MB/sec

    Processor -
    CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz
    Socket: 775
    Bus Speed: 1066MHz

Thank you for your help with this.

By the way, I'm not looking to overclock my system. Just wanting to simply replace it.

    Newegg.com - EVERCOOL EC-PT12-9525EA 95mm Ever Lubricate CPU Cooler
A basic cheap replacement with the same push pin style connectors as stock, if you dont mind removing the mobo, you may opt for a screw in style with backplate...

One thing I forgot to mention my fan size is 80mm. Does size matters, other then the fact that you need to be sure its not going to be a pain to install?

Heatsinks all use different size fans depending on style and what they are rated for, your old fan size has nothing to do with what your getting new to replace it...
It will be no more a pain to install than any other HSF, and less in the case of screw-in styles that use a backplate, requiring you to remove the motherboard.
