RAM Upgrade Advice
Hi. I am looking to upgrade my RAM in my PC. Here are my specs:
HP Compaq 6005 Pro Microtower
Win 7 Pro (32 Bit)
AMD Athlon II x2 215 Processor, 2.7 GHz
4096MB RAM (2@2GB sticks)
Power Supply: 320W
I want to get something that will make my system run faster, if it's possible. I just upgarded my Graphics card and that did wonders for my games (Radeon 6670). I have 4 slots, according to the specs listed for my system:
* Up to 16 GB PC-3-10600 (1333 MHz) DDR3 SDRAM Memory (4 X 4 GB)
NOTE: Up to 1 GB may not be available with 32-bit operating systems due to system resource requirements. Dual Channel is only supported when the system is configured with DDR3 symmetric memory (i.e. 2 x2GB)
Any advice is appreciated!

You'd have to get a new 64bit OS in order to go past your current 4 gigs of ram... It'd be a good idea to look in task manager to see if you're using all of the 4gigs you have now. If you are - adding more won't help.

I think someone mentioned it on your other thread but yeah with the current setup you have, the lower end cpu and limited OS, you are really at a wall at what else you can add to that system. Even if you had a 64bit OS most things aren't going to benefit by you adding more than 4gbs of ram.

Only thing thats going to add some snap to that system now, is a faster CPU, much faster, or a Solid State Drive to run the OS and frequent use programs off of.

to stick to the question, install 4 x 4GB 1333 sticks, this Kingston HyperX is super cheap right now on Amazon 80 bucks gets you 16GB
Amazon.com: Kingston Technology HyperX Blu 8GB 1333MHz DDR3 Non-ECC CL9 DIMM (Kit of 2) KHX1333C9D3B1K2/8G: Electronics
You will need to get Windows 7 64bit installed to utilize more than 3.5GB RAM

Well that would be almost a total waste of $200 but hey its the OPs money so if they want to waste it I guess that would be up to them!

And even less ordering from Newegg: Newegg.com - Wintec Value 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model 3VH13339U9-8GK
2 of those, and you spend even less on 16GB.
