Lapping
Can some more experienced pc enthusiasts give me step by step instructions to properly lap my cpu? I am not sure if I will yet but I'd rather follow years of experience versus a random guy on youtube if it comes down to it.

I understand that the purpose is to achieve a perfect flat surface in order to make it more efficient and in return lower the running temp.
My fear is that I will permanently damage the CPU from improperly following instructions.
Also, should I consider lapping my heatsink?
Thanks everyone!

IMO, it's not really worth it. You'll see bigger gains from a well-designed heatsink, proper airflow, and a good thermal paste. This is something I would only consider doing if you are an insane overclocker attempting to get every last Hz out of the CPU.
Good job, friend-of-friends!
