| Reading cheap as athlon, NOT athlon xp,HELP!
I recently bought a Athlonxp 1800 set with a MSI KT3ultra, and 1x 256 stick of DDR memory. However, whether its something with all new boards i dont know, because there were no jumpers to set on my mainboard. i contiued anyhow with the usual.Anyway in the bios it reads the chip as a athlon, and in POST its running at 1.150, when its capable of at least 1.533. Know i COULD over clock it but would i loose some of the features that id get if it was seen as an athlon xp? BTW everything else seems to be fine, im running that pc now.
i did use an AUTO function on 'fuzzy logic 3.0' the other day, but after rebooting like it said, i was left with a 'scanreg' error. How this effected my system registry i dont know, but i had to reformat.
PLEASE help me as its driving nuts,
Thanks for anyhelp....... |

The XP1800 uses a multiplier of 11.5 and a front side bus speed of 266Mhz, so if you set the FSB clock to 133Mhz, instead of the 100 that it is set to right now, the motherboard should recognize the CPU as an XP1800.
11.5 x 100.00 = 1150Mhz
11.5 x 133.33 = 1533.295Mhz

Didn't your math teacher tell you? "This stuff's gonna come in handy some day. Then you'll be sorry you didn't pay attention in class." |
