| Watercooling Necessity....Yes or No??
With Intel and AMD set to release big time CPU's this fall, winter, and beginning of next year (2003), do you guys think some type of watercooling/peltier cooling/nuclear-thermo thingamabob will no longer be an "enthuiast" venture for the norm. overclocker, but a neccesary component of the PC? A long, long time ago CPUs didn't even need heatsinks. They were only for overclockers and peiople who bought the Pentium Overdrive chips (hey, remember the 90's? ). Now, if you don't have one your PIV will melt to a cinder.

OVERHEATING AMD DESTROYS BROOKLYN!
Blast could be seen from moon!
Estimated at 37 megatons!

Hahahaha ....
A friend of mine makes decorative water fountains .... ah the tranquil sounds of water trickling ....... a pleasant abient noise to disguise the PC noises and assistance in keeping the circulating water cool. =)

I doubt it would ever become industry standard. I mean... I like the fact that a water cooled PC stays significantly cooler, but as far as the risk, inconvenience, noise, etc. of the whole thing - I think that other, more practical cooling technologies will set precedent if that kind of extreme cooling is necessary.

I think that sometime in the near future, there will be a totally different type of CPU architecture/manufacturing process that will yeild in much more efficient/cooler running chips. I don't think watercooling will ever become a standard.

I don't know. I think house builders will start putting those small sized hoses all over your house right next to your network plugins (you know the little hoses that attach to the ice maker on your fridge). Actually the're will be 2 hoses at each station. A supply tube for cool water for your processor and an exhaust tube that empties into your hot water heater or something. Bahaha!

Wouldn't you just love to work on the customer support desk at H-P, or Dell etc., after they start shipping stock, H20, family PC's.
Most people barely know how to turn on their PC, and have basic navigation skills within their OS, never mind maintaining a cooling system. |

| Uh no... your AMD will, but your PIV will simply clock down and stop.

The P4 is a quitter.
If it gets too hot, it goes and lays down.
AMD is a man's chip, it'll give til it's dead. |
