| Fastest AMD MP out there?
Looking to upgrade soon. Any sign of the Thoroughbred MP2200+ yet? Fastest I can see around is the 2100+ and only normally able to get hold of the 2000+ in the shops here (UK). Not really worth upgrading from my MP1800+ if that's the only step available! |

//OK, I mistakenly ignored that you specifically requested for the MP processor and not the XP, sorry
Fastest MP model is 2100+ as stated by dvnt1

I bought two of the 2100+ MPs a couple weeks ago and it was the fastest one available (at the time). I still haven't heard of the faster ones coming out yet. |

I can get the XP2200's no problems: for about 180 (120), I can even get the XP2400's right now (225) and can order the XP2600's for delivery in three weeks. The processors that I'm looking for are the faster MP's.
I've only just found one place selling the MP2100+ for delivery in 10 days and the MP2000+ available now.
Thanks DVNT1: At present I've got a dual MP1800+, so it's scarcely worth the hassle of upgrading to go to another one of the Palomino CPU's (i.e. up to MP2100+). I'm now looking around for some of the new Thoroughbred CPU's that will have the higher CPU clock, plus the Thoroughbred core.
Hopefully they're just doing a bit more testing on the Thoroughbred core before they release it for MP usage and when they're done, they'll release several Thoroughbred MP's straight away. Well that's what I'm hoping anyway!
thanks,
LostBok

Excellent, thanks KenKun... at least now I know that it is worth waiting for the MP2200+ as it shouldn't really be more than a few weeks...
Time to go balistic! After that all I've really got to do is change the motherboard for a 760MPX to get around that silly 3Gb DDR limit on the 760MP chipset!

Thanks Prex... might try them if they've got them in stock and ready to deliver.
No worries Muno - easy mistake to make. XP's are way more common than MP's! I've got an XP1900+ for my games PC and it rocks, only reason I'm looking to upgrade is that some of the work I do on my dual CPU systems is VERY CPU and memory hungry (hence dual 1800+ and 3Gb of ECC DDR)... I've got a couple of dual P3's (2Gb RAM) and eight 2.2Ghz P4's (1.5Gb RAM) plus a few others and they all struggle along in the background - I really need a bit more from the workstation that I use the majority of the time...
laters all,
