Intel says bye bye to RAMBUS

Dropping rdram is a smart move.

think it is dumb.. I personaly like to have a choice.. my curent P4a 2gig is running on a gig of 800mghz rdram.. its fast and stable.. now I have no choice from intel.. to use ddr for any future P4's I might build (which is unlikely to happen now)

The problem however, is RDRAM is quite a bit more expensive being totally proprietary, while if I'm not mistaken DDR is more generic so more companies can manufacture it and hence keep up competition to keep the prices down.

at one time, rdram was king of the hill...

but in today's mercurial IT market...you can't rest on your laurels.
