quite actually. i hadn't even heard of the HCC-001 before, and i'd never heard of any design so odd before. glad you brought this up cause my hsf is starting to make a slight grinding noise (it's prolly just dust in the bearings or something), so if i do need to replace it i'll know what to get. |

Great link! I' m gonna try out the HHC-001, too. I run some hot processors and build machines for other people with hot processors. | |

I was just the opposite. His review, while it had lots of different makes and models, didn't really reflect all the top of the line heatsinks available. He missed quite a few heatsinks. But hey, he's not perfect as we all know.

The PAL 8045 from Alpha is, however, a bright spot that is extremely silent, yet still powerful.

I was disappointed the OCZ Gladiator II SE wasn't included... That's what I use on my T-Bird 1.2/266 @ 1.4/266. Copper base and fins (fins soldered) with an 80mm variable speed fan. Works VERY well for me - dropped my temps by about 10C under load vs. my CoolerMaster EP5-6I11 ($9.00 extruded aluminum w/ thin 60mm fan).

Say, this seems like a good topic to post this question--
I have a Vantec CCK6035D.
It's adequate for cooling though not for comfort with the fan. I'd prefer performance, but I am getting tired of the turbine sound everytime I turn my comp on...
Does anyone has particular replacement fan suggestions? Am I stuck, if I want performance? Or is there some new fan that'll blow a hella lot w/less noise...?!
Tx.

Stick an 80mm fan on it with a reducer to 60mm mount. |
