| Shelf life for Artic Silver II ??
Just curious if there is some type of shelf life for ASII after it has been opened. The tube is about a year or so old when I put my AMD sys. together. I have a P4 and a Thermaltake Dragon 478 on the way. I never really cared for the sludge that comanies provide with their HSFs.
Thanks!! |

Quote from Artic Silver site. I think you should be ok, just give it a good mixing before applying it.
"Like any mix of particles that are many times heavier than the suspension fluid, there will be some separation in the compound over time when stored in the original syringe. (All thermal compounds eventually experience some separation in storage.) This does not affect the performance of the unseparated or remixed compound. To keep the compound fresh for future applications, always replace the cap on the syringe after each use. The syringe should be stored tip down so that any separation that occurs will be at the back end of the syringe with fully suspended particles below that. Storing in a cool place like a refrigerator will also lessen the separation over time." |

Thanks! I guess when my stuff gets here, I will just mix it a little.
I will be venturing into OC for the first time and I'm sure the sludge that comes with the Thermaltake Dragon would be adequate under normal use, but I want to go with a little better |

I didn't think you would have a problem. Let us know how it goes! (I have a little bit left that's been sitting around for a while.) |

Remeber, ASII has to 'break in', so for a week the PC will run a bit hot. |

Thanks......but speaking of "break in", on another thread, a mention was made of burning in the memory and a detailed process was outlined to get better performance.
Dumb question of the day is: What is the purpose of "burn" in?
I have built a lot of systems but never did a "burn in" and they ran more or less fine. I noticed Sandra Sisoft has an option for that.
Thanks |

wrz0170: i've used sandra's burn in test for testing whether or not my CPU can handle the strain whilst overclocked - it stresses the CPU constantly for X length of time. |
