Put in a Xp 2000+ should I reinstall windows? Hi, Yesterday I purchased a Xp2000+ and installed it, it is running fine no problems. However I once remember reading thatI needed to re-install windows If I were to put in an XP chip. So should I re-install windows? Windows XP pro. Thanks |
If you changed only the CPU without the MoBo then *No* you don't need a reinstall. |
Well, actually I am having problems, any time I try to play a game I get an error or it exsist itself. However I did change motherboard but it ws the same board( from another machine I have) it was a higher revision so it could accept my XP. So I guess I did change the board also. |
Well, if it is the same board with the same chipset i think you are on the safe side .. About the crash .. 1/are you sure that the HS is installed properly 2/do you have enough juice (Watts) for the new CPU/ 3/try clearing the BIOS Please give us your system's specs ... |
Actually I had overclocked a little to high for my systems licking |
What is the standard Voltage on a XP 2000+?? |
XP2000+ standard voltage is 1.75v |
Thank you very much for your help. :) |
What was the chip the XP replaced? I think if it's an older Athlon (non-XP) then you should reinstall Windows so it'll recognize that your current CPU does SSE. Otherwise, if you had an earlier Athlon XP you shouldn't have to reinstall. |
I had a t-bird 1.33 But wcpuid sees it has SSE, or is that irrelevent? |
