I have an AMD Duron Morgan 1300, on an Epox 8k5a motherboard. No matter what I do, I can not get the damned thing to unlock.. has anyone else with this mobo had this problem? I've tried manually putting in my jumper settings (ie, cutting the bridges), but to no avail, it will only boot up at 13X. Something strange has happened, also, when I go down to 12x, it boots at 14x. I have no idea what it's damned problem is. I've used 3 different kinds of pencil, the conductive grease that comes with an XP unlocking kit... I know that I'm getting contact, because when I reset it goes back to 13 times! Any help would be appreciated.... |

From it booting at weird speed when you change the jumpers I'd guess you have a bad bridge. I'd clean the chip up, and retrace the bridges usuing a mechanical pencil (I use a mechanical thing that has a gigantic lead). But, the thing is try different pencils. I tried 5 or 6 different types till I found one my CPU seemed to like.
I had the same sorta thing happen a while back with my 700Mhz duron. Great chip, and finnaly got it to 1Ghz. Good luck man! Also I've heard the 1.3Ghz Duron's don't go so fast. So don't be worried if it doesn't go much farther. |

The most I can get it to is 1470, any higher than that and windows starts telling me its corrupt... that's okay, though, I just want to crank the FSB up to, oh, around 175
A bad bridge? I clean it with metho every time I take it out.... I'll get at it with an eraser too, then. |

Tried the eraser.. I rubbed the eraser all over it, and what did I notice... that the bridges I thought I had opened weren;t open... lol.. noooooo.. they just had black paint off the tiny screwdriver I was using to try and break them on them. Well, I'll get at it with a magnifying glass. |
