Maybe you got a cheap Mexican knockoff of an AMD processor?
AMD started going to a green organic substrate around 1700-2200 and then suddenly changed their minds or something because all the newer ones have been brown again. |

I vote for the eeny meeny miney moe method
It's purely cosmetic, but I'm kind of a fan of the classic brown personally. Brown shoes goes with anything. |

What is the voltage of the Thorobred, I looked in the eurol and downloaded .pdf's on this dial-up till I'm distressed terribly.
the current voltage is 1.56
I found that it takes up to 26 lbs to install the HS clip, but no Voltage Specs, HELP ! http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/cont...docs/23986.pdf |

It should be 1.5v. Your mobo maybe telling you more according to it's regulator. Manufacturers differ.

Like samwichse said, the substrate has nothing to do with it's performance or anything, Maximum PC also stated that awhile ago.
I think after reading samwichse's link like their quote Quote: |
Thus AMD has recently switched over to a green substrate colour, appearing more like their Intel rivals, and ultimately affecting the impression of first time buyers even if they don't realize it.
| Is to deceive first time builders... just like the PR rating |

I vote we should start a petition to go back to the purply colour of the first athlons, it was much nice and didn't give the appearance it was gonna bend like the organic stuff they are using now, ceramic was much nicer IMO and purply color was better, and get rid of those groves on the L1 bridges |
