Question
Need Asus A7N8X advice

Okay, can anyone give me some straight answers about the A7N8X? I've read damn near 20 reviews about this board, and it seems like everyone says something different. I'm seriously looking into getting one of these boards but I need to know exactly what OC options the BIOS provides. I've read that you can use larger multipliers without physically unlocking the processor, but you have to unlock it in order to use the lower multipliers. But, I've read other reviews that say you have to unlock the processor to use any of the mult. options, and yet other articles says the new BIOS update comming out will allow you to unlock all the multipliers without physically unlocking the processor. I'm trying to avoid having to alter my CPU if at all possible, for obvious reasons.

Second, can you or can you not lock the PCI bus speed. Yet again, I keep getting conflicting info. Several sites say there is no means of locking the PCI bus, while others say it is locked at half of whatever you lock the AGP bus at.

Any firsthand experience would be greatly appreciated. If this board lacks these features, I'm looking at getting a KT400 that does. Any recommendations there? Thanks.

well ASUS is a good board......I can't tell you about specifics, but I can tell you I looked at it and the ABIT at7 max2 when i was looking......I chose the ABIT.....but that's just personal preference, but this is one of the fastest boards I think i've ever owned....rock stable, easy to nav. and easy to OC...
